Curiosity Shop let Crows fly out of the rehearsal room and into Fontana’s sky

Curiosity Shop’s Crows arrives on 18 June as the kind of debut single that already feels like it has lived a little before reaching the public. The Edinburgh five-piece formed in 2024 and have been building the song onstage, where it reportedly became a central part of their set and even part of their pre-show warm-up routine. That matters because Crows does not sound like a single invented for a rollout spreadsheet. It sounds like something tested in rooms, tightened by nerves, and carried by a band learning how to become a band in real time. Their signing to Fontana Records gives the release a bigger frame, but the appeal remains charmingly local: voices, hugs, folk-rock texture, and the strange communal magic of a song that knows exactly where it wants to sit in the setlist. First releases should feel like doors opening. This one has feathers on the threshold.
