28 July 2026 – Mallory Hawk Hears Childhood Inside 'Chinook'

Philadelphia songwriter Mallory Hawk releases her self-produced debut album 'Chinook' on 31 July. The title refers to the military helicopters that formed part of the background noise during her childhood in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Hawk transforms that persistent mechanical memory into guitar-led songs about survival, loyalty, exhaustion and the relationships that help people recover their creative direction.

Every part of the album was written and performed by Hawk, giving the record the focus of a fully personal statement rather than a carefully managed introduction. Childhood sounds often remain lodged in memory long after their original meaning has changed. For some people it is a train, a clock or a neighbour beginning renovations at an unreasonable hour. For Hawk, it was rotor blades — and they have finally become an album.
